Artefill is the first filler approved in the Unites States that is considered permanent. Artefill is made of polymethylmethacrylate (pmc) microspheres that are suspended in cow collagen. After injection, the cow collagen slowly degrades but the microspheres stimulate your body to produce its own collagen.

This injection requires a skin test 4 weeks prior to treatment since it utilizes cow collagen, which some people are allergic to. Artefill is used for the nasolabial or labial mental lines. Most patients require two treatments two months apart. Results of ArteFill are seen immediately. Bruising is possible, and the bruises should subside 3-10 days after procedure. Artefill costs $1,200 per syringe. Most patients require 1- 4 syringes, depending on the depth and length of their wrinkles.
